ABOUT US
The Association of Children’s and Youth theaters ASSITEJ was established in 2001, and is a full rights member of ASSITEJ. Thus far 17 theaters and institutions have become Lithuanian ASSITEJ members. Violeta Podolskaite is the president of the association. The decisions are made by the Board that is reelected every three years.
To support its mission and vision, Lithuanian ASSITEJ organizes national and international professional theater festivals for children and youth, as well as celebrates International Children Theater day (20th of March) and International Children defense day (1st of June). We work hard to organize national (annually) and international NORDIC-BALTIC (every third year) theater festivals, seminars, workshops, theater laboratories, and participate in international professional children’s and youth theater festivals, and other events.
Well known people that contribute to the Children‘s and Youth theatre vision and development, are granted ASSITEJ honorery status.Currently, the following people have been granted the ASSITEJ honorery status: Vitalijus Mazūras, Stasys Ratkevičius, and Aleksandras Abišala.
